Strong start for Training Wānanga
The first Trustee Training Wānanga has now been held at Kanihi Māwhitiwhiti Pā, marking a positive and important beginning for this kaupapa.
Facilitated by Māori Land Court, the opening session provided an introductory foundation for uri wanting to better understand trustee responsibilities and governance basics. The wānanga covered key areas including legal foundations, the role of a trustee, governance responsibilities, compliance and risk, and provided a space for pātai and discussion.
This wānanga series has been developed to tautoko aspiring, current and future kaitiaki of our marae and hapū, helping to strengthen governance capability accross all levels of our people. The first session was an encouraging step forward, reflecting the importance of building confident, informed leadership for the future.
The series will continue with Wānanga #2 on 2 April at Kanihi Māwhitiwhiti Pā, facilitated by the Hapū Board. This next session will build on the foundations already laid and will further explore governance structures, responsibilities, accountability, compliance, and risk within the context of the Hapū constitution and relevent legislation.
